President's Msg

As we enter our fifty-fourth year the Birchwood Civic Association still prevails as one of the most active and influential Civics on Long Island.  The BCA has been  proud to represent the interests of the Jericho/Syosset communitys 1,300+ resident families.  The organization has been a major factor in helping to make and keep East Birchwood and its environs desirable.

This web site represents BCA's attempt to provide both residents and prospective residents, alike with the information regarding latest news of the East Birchwood community.

Please scan through the site, and feel free to provide BCA with your impressions, comments and/or questions

Thank you.

News and Events

Thank you all for your dedication and support!

The Birchwood Civic Association's Spring Festival was a wonderful success, enjoyed by hundreds of East Birchwood and Manors families. Held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 on the the George A. Jackson elementary school fields, there were carnival games, food, raffle prizes, face painting, a DJ, and more - all provided free to residents by the BCA. The event served as a celebration of our victory over developers who wanted to build a huge mall in our midst without concern for its impact on our community. The battle against the mall, and for smart development was finally resolved this year after an 18 year struggle. Without the strength, hard work and fortitude of the Birchwood Civic Association's Board of Directors, this and many other battles over the years would have been lost. The Birchwood Civic Association is the public voice of the East Birchwood and Manors   community.

The BCA is grateful to the many people and businesses who helped to make the Spring Festival such a success, including Glen Wolther and All Around Food for donating the baked goods; Whole Foods for donating fruit, vegetables, and hummus; Samantha Collins and Samantha Brown for their wonderful, free face painting; all the local shops that generously donated so many fabulous raffle prizes, and especially to the BCA Spring Festival event chairs, Ruth Sholemson and Ita Pam.  Thank you also to Town of Oyster Bay Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia and our honorable Judge for joining in the fun.
